So here we are another year another ultimate wishlist. Now
for the past couple years a few of my ideas have been appearing here and there
which is a good thing. It means someone
is actually paying attention. Unfortunately it’s like 2K takes one step forward
and 10 steps backwards, so excuse me while I rant a bit, I’ve been holding this
in for quite a while, well at least on the blog, feel free to check out my second hobby gaming channel (sold my first 2K channel), rants for days!
Edit* actually my rant was longer than I intended it to be
(lol) so you can find it -> CLICK HERE Hopefully someone from 2K uses this rant as
inspiration to make a better game, because WE NEED CHANGE!
But without further ado let’s get into this ULTIMATE
WISHLIST. I’ll be updating this list for the next couple months as I see fit.
MYCAREER
First I just have to say,
REMOVE CAMERA SHAKE, REMOVE CAMERA SHAKE!
I can’t count how many headaches I have gotten due to the
camera shake at the free throw line. In 2k17 there was an option to turn it
off, but for some reason 2K thought it would be a great idea to force it in NBA 2k18. Did they even think (or care)
about the people who have sensitive eyes, or any health issues that would be
affected by that?! NEEDS TO BE REMOVED
IN 2k19.
ADD SOUND BACK TO GAMEPLAY. People shouldn’t have to use an
external capture device to have sound in their gameplay. If music copyright is
that much of a worry, maybe remove THE SOUNDTRACK NOT THE ENTIRE SOUND FROM THE GAME (this is not just a mycareer issue but
the ENTIRE GAME)!
My career took the biggest hit in NBA 2k18. Not only did
they take the power away from the player to choose what to
upgrade, it cost more VC (virtual currency) to upgrade a player than EVER,
190,000 to be exact (around $50 USD),and that's just to an 85 overall. As a person that actually enjoys mycareer, at least I used to, 2k15 was is and
will always be my favorite despite its many issues. Seeing this mode go down
the drain has me feeling a way. It’s time for 2K to get back to the basics and
make their game FUN again.
So I propose that Mycareer is split from mypark/pro am.
With the implementation of earning badges and upgrades in park/pro am we now
know that this is very much possible. And most of all with this new method when
the servers shut off this mode can still be continued without issues, because
it’s not connected to the 2K server. I have lost so much because 2K forces
everything to be tied into their server (read my rant to hear about my
experience).
I feel like the essence of Mycareer has been overshadowed by
online (money) modes. The keyword being MY, “Mycareer” hasn’t felt like our
career in quite awhile. Ever since 2K brought virtual currency (aka microtransactions)
in 2k13 I knew that things were going to go downhill, eventually, and now it’s
just out of control. The story mode known as mycareer has turned into one big
advertisement- microtransaction filled piece of….well you get my drift.
The best way 2K can fix this is
to separate the mode from everything else. Let the
people who enjoy mycareer and have no interest in online modes play this mode without
restrictions. This mode will be able to be played with or without internet connection. Instead of earning VC
in mycareer you earn SP (skill points) this myplayer is not able to access
online park or pro am, this mode is exclusively for single player.
Apart from playing in the league 2K should add a summer circuit with different courts
/locations (similar to NBA 2K7 24/7 mode) so single players can still
experience a street mode. Mycareer settings The player gets to
choose how long the season is from 28 games to 82 (like myleague) to 1-7 games
in the playoffs. Difficulty option from
rookie to hall of fame. Difficulty sliders edit, the player gets to choose how
hard or easy they want this mode to be. These features will make it favorable
to kids, first time players, people with disabilities, and or people who just
want to have fun without restrictions in Mycareer.
Key things that need
to be in NBA 2k19 mycareer
1. NO RESTRICTIONS PERIOD
That means, able to make an all around player without caps, If
the user wants 99 dribbling, 99 3 point, 99 dunk, 99 defense etc. they can have
that). That means no animations locked, the user can make any type of player
for ANY position with the
ability to call and set plays, from the START. No more having to unlock
on court coach or floor general at a higher overall. No height restrictions, if the user wants to
make a 6’8 point guard, or a 7’7 center that’s 100% possible. Because this is
an off server mode 2k WILL NOT have to be concerned about 7 foot
Demigods being at the park (like NBA 2k15). Once the player becomes a starter
and a big name in the league they can even sway the coach/franchise on who to
sign next. (bring back the big three).
2. able to earn EVERY badge HOF (hall of fame) with the
ability to see badge progress (like 2k18)
3. Start off at least a 75 overall (with 20k SP to get
started to buy attributes clothes etc.)
4. earn 3-4k SP (and or RP for store) per game to be able to upgrade your player at
a faster rate to become the NBA superstar you dreamed to be
5. A fully functional store to buy clothes, shoes, and
accessories with SP. (Able to access with or without internet. This store is
not connected to the 2K servers)
6. able to skip cut scenes
7. load into mycourt and able to fully customize it (like
myleague) Option to have an outside or inside mycourt. CHAIN NET option (CPU
can only join if invited).
8. Player inventory, able to change clothes, accessories,
signatures easily without loading into mylab (like 2k18)
9. Access to ALL hairstyles and facial hair (FREE)
10. jumpshot editor that’s available as soon as you start
the game
11. free sneakers after shoe endorsement (including custom
sneakers)
13. Able to go shirtless from the start, (for cutscenes
& mycourt gameplay against cpu)
14. Shirts vs skins for summer circuit, we NEED a 24/7 mode for mycareer! (yes I
said it again).
Mypark/pro am
With mycareer splitting from online some may wonder how they
will upgrade their players for online modes. The answer is simple. You earn VC
and badge progress from playing Park/pro Am, and if you want to spend REAL
money to buy your way to an 85 overall player, you can still do so. With this
new method, online players will no longer feel forced to grind mycareer and
single players will no longer feel pressured into buying VC because they want
to enjoy mycareer.
Each park game should
pay at least 700 VC and as your
streak goes higher for example a 10 game win streak you earn a bonus amount of
VC and rep. Pro Am games should have
no less than a 2K VC payout for winning and 1200 just for playing (Must
complete the full game)
Key things that need
to be in NBA 2k19 park/pro am
1. New Parks, let’s be honest most people did not like “the
playground” and missed going to different parks.
2. earn park/pro am endorsements as you rep up, you get free
shoes, clothes etc.
3. Rec center (like NBA 2k15)
4. online mycourt fully customizable
5. Mascots (many
complained about not being able to earn them in 2k18)
6. Custom shirts/pants & shorts
7, park rep is no
longer tied to player overall, all of your players will be the same park
rep.
8. Able to go shirtless at any rep. 2K needs to make the
“shirtless rep” something better, maybe 20k-40k VC instead like it used to be in NBA 2K16
DRIBBLING
NBA 2k19 dribbling definitely needs to go back to the drawing board and leave NBA 2k18 dribbling where it is. In my opinion dribbling felt the most fluid in NBA 2k15. I recently got a chance to play NBA 2k18 on the PS3, before then I had only played it on the PS4. NBA 2k18 on PS3 feels almost exactly like NBA 2k13 dribbling, which both feel like NBA 2k15 in ways and even have some of the same dribble moves.
2K needs to take a deep look at NBA 2k15 and bring back all of the great things about that game into NBA 2k19. I feel like a mixture of NBA 2k15 fluidity as far as when you flick the ball left to right on the right analog stick your player dribbles the ball left to right on the screen. On the newer games sometimes the player does a hesitation or some other strange movement happens, it doesn't feel as fluid at all. The step back that became popular in 2k16 and 17 is gone, the snatch back feels different, players slide all over the place. Dribbling just isn't good at all. NBA 2k15 needs to be the base for NBA 2k19 and 2K should build from there incorporating dribble moves from 2k16 and 2k17 as well.
NEW SHOT METER
I’m not sure why 2K thought 2k18 shot meter would be better
than the last, it’s not as bad as 2k17 but it has a lot of the same issues. I
find it interesting that NBA 2k18 on PS3 has the 2k15 shot meter, which in my opinon is better than 2k18 shot meter on
PS4. 2K should have stuck with that (minus the red light for early release,
which seems to glitch at times even wide open, that was a huge issue in NBA
2k15)
In NBA 2k18 good releases are so broken that people
purposely shoot early or late because it seems like those shots go in more. I
personally only trust perfect releases. And the layups, don’t get me started,
they are more broken than good releases. For some reason 2k thought it would be
a great idea to keep layup timing in the game but remove the layup meter. This
deservers a meme insert, doesn’t it?
Seriously 2K, either remove layup timing or bring back the
layup meter, because that little vibrate thing you added, is annoying and doesn’t
work 98% of the time.
The 2k18 shot meter suffers from 2k17 same issues, the snap
back, the meter not filling up all the time, a strange random animation that
makes your knees almost push together and gives you a totally different jumper
than the one you have equipped etc. The only way to fix the snapback issue is
to go back to a meter similar to NBA 2k15 or 2k16. NBA LIVE 18 has the same
issues of snapping back or a super early release animation. I feel like both EA
and 2K should look into NBA LIVE Mobile shot meter
while you miss perfect
releases (which should NEVER happen) the bar functionality is still better than
Live 18 & 2k18.
Another thing is missing greens (excellent release). I have
never personally missed a green in 2K18, but there has many reports of this.
Missing green light shots in my opinion defeats the whole purpose of a excellent
release. Instead of rewarding the player you make them miss? I never
understood the concept. WE NEED A NEW SHOTMETER
Blacktop used to be my favorite mode, it’s the first thing I
play each and every year NBA 2K is released. Ever since 2K removed turning
fatigue off and other features the mode has just not been the same. Not only
that they tried to remove using custom rosters (created players). I’m not sure
why, but there are a few workarounds to get your created players on the
Blacktop. But the point is we should NOT have to do a glitch to have this feature.
We should be able to use custom rosters/ created players on the Blacktop like
LAST GEN. They actually have this feature in NBA 2k18, but ON PS3.
NBA 2k18 blacktop is just all bad, not only is it the same
look from 2k17, your myplayer looks default, your hairstyle or accessories
don’t show up at all, this needs to change. And it’s time to either bring back
the matching Black and white Jersey fits from 2K10 or Let ALL players including
cpu wear street clothes (Like NBA LIVE 18)
Key things that need
to be in NBA 2k19 BLACKTOP MODE
1. Make it take it
2. 21 (this hasn’t been in blacktop since 2k9)
3. Different locations (like 2k7)
4. Chain nets
5. Shirts vs skins option
6. EDIT RULES, able to turn fatigue off, fouls off, no out
of bounds etc.
7. Custom rosters
8. Energetic crowd (THEY NEED TO BE LIT) and a DJ to hype
the game
CREATE A PLAYER TOOLS
NBA 2K18 CAP tools are probably the worst it’s ever been in
2K history. NBA 2k18 was just a disappointment period, but this really had many
of us feeling some type of way, especially those of us that make custom teams
for myleague. I will have a video about this for visual inspiration. WWE 2K18
has a more ideal CAP Tool, not only that you get to use custom hair colors and
highlights for any hairstyle. That’s how it should be in NBA 2K create a
player.
CLOTHING
Clothes in NBA 2K have looked stiff for years. This is something they definetly need to fix, NBA LIVE 18 apparel looks much more realistic with the way the clothes move on court. Aside from the way the clothes look 2K should not lock accessories depending on overall. The user should be able to buy all clothing and accessories in the store, unless it's an exclusive item that unlocks as a rep bonus. For example gold item, rare jordans etc.
MYLEAGUE
Myleague is a pretty solid mode, I only have a few
suggestions. The first being, able to load into the practice gym as soon as you
enter the mode. It will make it easier to test jumpers etc. without having to
load all over again. Fix the create a player glitch. In NBA 2k18 we’re able to
create a player while in Myleague unfortunately that player doesn’t get added
to your roster, he goes to the free agent pool. For some reason no matter what
you offer him he refuses to sign to the team, he even gets mad and then you can
no longer offer a contract. WHAT?! What is the point of even creating players
in my league then? Luckily I had a custom roster already, but still that is not
the point. Other than that, as I said myleague is still a solid mode.
MyTeam
I don’t have much to say about myteam, I no
longer play the mode. But I will say the pack odds are terrible and 2K should
bring back the gauntlet. Oh, and it would be nice to have a myteam offline mode
for the simple fact that if the servers are off you can’t play! Guess what happens when the
servers officially shutdown? You lose everything! Great game mode right? 2K
probably would never have an offline version, but it's worth noting. HONORABLE MENTIONS
BRING BACK PATH TO GREATNESS
WEEKLY CHALLENGES THAT EARN VC/SP (OR RP FOR OFFLINE)
BETTER TEAM A.I DEFENSE
NERF A.I DOUBLE TEAM (it's excessive & usually lead to fake TO)
FIX ISO (the defense collapse 9/10 and 3-4 defenders attack ball handler)
